START: the new Student Art Gallery
Wake Forest University proudly announces the opening of its new Student Art Gallery (START), located in Reynolda Village, suite 122 A. This gallery represents the culmination of a year’s work on the part of faculty and administrators in the Provost’s Office, the Department of Art, and the Schools of Business and will serve as a new venue for students to showcase and sell their visual art. START will operate under the sole direction of recent Wake Forest graduate Caitlin Berry (’09), with the support of a staff composed entirely of students. Visitors to the gallery will be able to view and purchase visual works of art designed and created by Wake Forest students and, potentially, students from area schools. The gallery will also host a variety of artistic performances such as poetry readings and music throughout the year.
Visitors who are interested in seeing the new gallery will have an opportunity on Friday, October 30 when the University will host a cross campus gallery walk to debut the exhibitions on the Reynolda Campus and in Reynolda Village. The Hanes Gallery will be open from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, START will be open from 5:00 – 9:00 pm, and Reynolda House will be open from 7:30 – 9:00 pm. A Reynolda House After Hours Party will begin at 9:00 and will last until 11:00 pm.
